Business

@NYTimes put up this link on Twitter today and its a great story.  It reminds me of our FedEx man a few years ago.  We had 2 bikes that had been sitting on our front porch for like 3 years.  They were getting rusty and we never had time to ride them.  He had mentioned them a few times in the past and one day I said “Hey would you like to have those bikes?”  He was stoked and took them home with him.  We were happy that someone would be getting use out of them.  I’m sure there are some people who won’t like the sudden change to riding a bike but what a dream job for a lot of other outdoor types.  And imagine the environmental impact.

Cool white roofing technology is taking San Antonio by storm, and the storm is named Steve Good & Rocky DeMarco, area directors for Jaco Construction.  Rocky & Steve are the Alamo city’s new leaders in environmentally responsible cool roofing technologies.

Based on their commitment to the environment and striking good looks (haha), they were recently the object of an article in the San Antonio Business Journal.  Click here to read the article and be sure to contact them direct for more information on tax rebates and incentives for your San Antonio area business.

For too long San Antonio area roofers have promoted ancient roofing tecniques like tar and gravel.  Its time to cool off San Antonio and save energy with a non-petrolium based, 100% recycled, cool roofing tecnologies!

If you’ve purchased or are thinking about purchasing a cool roof this year, be sure to click here and print this information on the Energy Act of 2005 for your accountant.  You are entitled for a tax credit of $1.80 per square foot for your white roofing purchase!

If you’re still confused feel free to give us a call to talk it over :)

Who doesn’t right?  This service gets my vote as the best thing to happen in our world since sliced bread.  Enter your address and they pay you a dollar to let them stop your junk mail.

I don’t know how it works but Matt Damon is a major sponsor so maybe he just needs a way to tax shelter his money.  Either was its awesome for all of us who are sick and tired of having our mailboxes filled with useless catalogs and credit card applications.

In just over 5 years of work in West & South Texas we’ve accumulated stacks of business cards, emails, hand written notes, and text messages of prospective customers. After a while it just gets overwhelming. We’ve tried Apple contacts, Act, Outlook, Excel spreadsheets, etc.

This year our goal was to get more organized and make the connections to take our business to the next level. After hours of research we found a great solution. Webasyst online database. The options are exception, the price great, and the ease of entry extraordinary.

We can now import & export from excel & csv formats. Add as many groups and contacts as we want. And create mailers, letters, etc from those contacts.

Check it out for free and you’ll see what we mean. www.webasyst.net

Like so many other people out there I was skeptical that the iphone would revolutionize my life. I did not stand in line to purchase it. In fact, I’m a year late on the greatest innovation of our lifetime. But its better late than never and this weekend after our sprint contracts ran out, we upgraded for good to the iPhone. Everything changed. Heaven opened up and doves sung! ok so I’m exaggerating a bit but the truth is life is so much easier now. There is no way to put all the innovations into words, just go to the apple store and try it out. Better yet, just buy it! Business has never been easier and we’ve never been so organized!

My favorite feature has to be the scrolling. With the flick of your wrist you can scroll at fast speeds through hundreds of contacts, photos, music, or anything else you’ve loaded up.

Just a warning, this will probably turn into an iphone blog since there really isn’t anythign else going on in our life now :)

I can’t remember anyone ever handing me a moo card.  Can you?  Well if you’ve met us lately maybe you have!  But otherwise I’m telling you this is a totally untapped shoestring business opportunity.

It’s $19.99 for 100 of the most unforgettable personalized business cards you will ever see.  And best of all they come all the way from the UK.  That would be London, England!  For $10 shipping!  It’s worth $30 just to get something from England isn’t it?

They’re not paying me for the endorsement, so check it out!  minicards.jpg

As we count down the days to our next event, the TASA/TASB show at the Dallas Convention Center, we can’t help but think about our favorite part of being a rep – trade shows.

Yes, we’re talking about hours on your feet, talking to people you don’t know, trying to hurd in like cattle interested individuals to your 10′ space. So with all that being said, why do we still love them so much?

Interaction! Where else can you meet hundreds of people totally opposite of you and exchange ideas? At a recent show in Galveston we met at least 200 people from all areas, backgrounds, and walks of life. From a vegan realtor to a amarillo cowboy they were all there to browse and chill.

Usually people are friendly whether they care about your product or not, so where better to craft your perfect sales pitch than to try it out at a trade show?

Beside, where else can you stock up on 500 pens that you will never use from companies you care nothing about?

As we slip in our padded insoles, we look forward to seeing you at a booth around the corner :)
